Dr.-Ing. Jan Traenckner

Following studies in physics, electrical engineering and computer engineering in Göttingen and Aachen, Jan Traenckner completed a doctorate in mechanical engineering at the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) at RWTH Aachen University.

He spent eight years with McKinsey & Company, leading strategy engagements focused on technology and innovation. He subsequently served on the management team of ProSieben Digital Media, where he was responsible for building the company’s multimedia activities.

Since 1997, he has worked as an entrepreneur, technology investor and business angel, and is the founder and Managing Director of VentureCheck GmbH. Today, he primarily advises private equity investors on technology investments. Jan Traenckner has been closely involved in the digital transformation from its early stages. This has given him first-hand insight into how technological innovation can create substantial value — and the conditions under which it does not.
